Can a Saint do bad things and still be made a Saint?

It got me thinking:

Can a Saint do bad things and still be made a Saint as long as they contribute to furthering or evangelising for the church?

I’ll add if anyone wants any more detail but I’m sure someone is more up on Saint Basil (of alexandria) than I am
