Question: From what I understand, if a Catholic is in a state of moral sin, and dies, he will go to hell, being that he/she did not participate in the sacrament of Confession. If this statement is true, how is it possible for a Protestant to be saved if he/she have committed a moral sin; being that they would not pursue the sacrament of Confession?

Second Question: Can reconciliation only be done through a priest? What if someone- Catholic, Christian, etc- ask God forgiveness directly- let’s say, before dying?

The following links should assist you in better understanding the Catholic Church’s teaching on whether non-Catholics can go to heaven without Confession.
