Can a sitting pope (bishop of Rome) be excommunicated?

Purely curious on the subject:
Can a sitting pope (bishop of Rome) be excommunicated?
If he can, who would decree it on behalf of the Church?
If he is, who does he go to for reconciliation with the Church?
 
The writ of excommunication would have to come from his Bishop. As he is the Bishop of Rome, he would have to excommunicate himself, but if he is worthy of excommunication, he would not have the power to excommunicate. Catch 22.

Many types of actions cause automatic excommunication, so not writ in necessary.

As far as reconciliation goes, their is no hierarchy. Anyone with the proper facilities and jurisdiction can absolve.
