Can a wedding take place during Lent?

I have heard mixed feelings on this and because I am planning a March wedding I need to know if the date has to change.
 
Yes, a wedding can take place during Lent. Due to the penitential nature of the season, couples who are planning weddings during Lent are usually counseled to keep them as simple as possible. If the couple wishes a more elaborate wedding, it would be better to schedule it during Easter.
