Can an atheist go to heaven?

My fiance beleive when you pass away nothing happens you just die. I try to get him to beleive in my catholic ways however he will not convert. He would never deny me of my faith and understands that its very important to me. He is a very great person, he isent perfect but has a very good heart. Is his destiny definatly hell?
