One of my husband’s RCIA students works at a Baptist church. She does go to a Catholic church on Saturday and wants to know if it is okay to attend a Baptist church on Sunday. This is somewhat expected of her since she works there.

If her employer expects her to be a member of its congregation (which is essentially what you are saying) then she is going to have to sit down with her employer and let the employer know of her conversion plans. A Catholic cannot be a member of a Protestant church or attend a Protestant church in the manner that a member would. Hopefully, her work for this church is such that it will not be affected by her conversion and her employer will understand why she can no longer attend its services in the manner that she has been.

Now, if she knows or reasonably suspects that her employer expects its employees to be Baptists and will fire her if she reveals her intent to convert and her need to stop attending Baptist services, she can postpone announcing her conversion – and attend services in the meantime as part of the conditions of her current employment – until she can do what is necessary to safeguard her family’s livelihood. But this should be considered a prudential postponement pending finding another job or otherwise securing her family’s livelihood, and not a permanent state of affairs.
