I am going to be returning to my hometown for a week, and I would like to visit my family’s church. One of my hobbies is family history, and I’d like to have some pictures of the inside to add to my records. Is it okay, generally speaking, to photograph the inside of Catholic churches? I was planning on calling the parish office to make 100% sure but was hoping for (name removed by moderator)ut.

Ordinarily, yes, churches can be photographed, particularly when there are no services in progress. It would be best to ask for permission whenever services are in progress or whenever you plan to use a flash. (Flash photography can damage historic interiors.)
