Can I adopt a dog from a New Age retreat facility?

Using a web site that lists homeless pets available for adoption, our family has found a dog that would suit us well. The dog rescue facility is also used for New Age retreats. There the “priestesses” are involved in goddess worship, tarot, and astrology. To adopt the dog, we would not be going to the facility but meeting in a public place. We would pay them a small fee. Is it okay to adopt the dog?

From your description, it sounds to me that the fee you would pay would cover the facility’s expenses in caring for the dog and preparing him for adoption. Your intent in giving the facility money would be to adopt the dog, not to support occult practices. In my opinion, you are free to adopt the dog. And, if you like, you could also ask your priest to bless the dog.
