I have found a chaplet to St. Maximilian Kolbe and at the end it says…

and all those in most need of they mecy.

Maybe a misprint but…

and all those most in need of the mercy, this would be easier for me.

Of course it’s a misprint. Say it correctly. It was probably supposed to be “in need of thy mercy,” like most.

You’re free to make up your own prayer if you like. Simply talking to God is a valid prayer and oftentimes is the most effective form of prayer. So, the answer is, yes, it’s perfectly OK to alter a prayer to fit your own personal preference.

Ah spell-checker. Spell checker does not like archaic pronouns like ‘thy’ but recognizes modern pronouns like ‘they’.

It’s THY. Please do alter the misprint ‘they’ to the correct ‘thy’.

Yes it is an error. St. Maximilian Kolbe is also one of my favorite Saints. God bless

Prayer is not some sort of magic incantation that must be said with the correct words or BUST.

The only prayers that are held to this level of accuracy are the Sacramental words said by a Priest or Bishop (and even those have a “bare minimum” sort of requirement where they are still effective).

Just pray.
