Can I buy a ouija board at a yard sale to destroy it?

I saw an ad on Facebook for a yard sale near my apartment. One of the prominent items they were advertising was a coffee table that was also a giant ouija board. Would it be prudent to purchase this item in order to destroy it?

I also thought about buying it and sanding the ouija board etched into the top into dust, thus having some return on my investment (still having the table) while still removing a dangerous item from circulation.

How about you just leave it alone? Someone might want it just as a coffee table. If you do not use it for nefarious purposes, it’s simply a table with a bunch of letters on it.

If you open up the Ebay site and do a search for Satanism there’ll be lots of items that will come up that you can spend your time purchasing and destroying. Start with your local area first.

Let us know how you get on.

My mother, God rest her soul, always told me: If you see a ouija board, run. Run away. Have nothing - NOTHING - to do with it.

The devil works in strange ways. You buy it and it looks…interesting. Next thing you know, you’re like, “hmm…it’ll look good in my house, but I’ll sand it.” That sanding project? You’ll get to it one of these months. Or years…

I wouldn’t even want one in my possession for 30 seconds, even to carry it to the curb for the trashmen.

Just…stay away. Just stay away.

The way I see it, we are called not to destroy evil, but to love God and love one another. Is it even possible that we can destroy evil? I think not. That is for God to do.

If you can buy it for a couple bucks, or if it’s worth the amount as a table, then yes, why not sand it, or destroy it? If it’s more than a few dollars, that money can be put to better use.

I totally understand what you want to do, but honestly, I wouldn’t touch that with a 10 foot pole.

This sounds like sarcasm, which would be misplaced.

Sounds like an expensive and consuming hobby to get into.
The OP is clear that it is happenstance, a convenient one-off to remove an object that is spiritually problematic. For someone to pull “hobby” from this is surprising.

Going to a garage sale that you saw online solely on the chance that a table you saw might still be there is an awful lot of work. It’s not like he happened to be there and saw it or passed it laying on the side of the road. He’s actively seeking it out. I think this sort of obsessive need to destroy even images of ouija boards can quickly get out of hand.

I think this is a waste of your money, and furthermore, the action itself would be quite insignificant and negligible as it’s not like there’s a limited number of ouija boards in the world and no way to craft more of them. You would be better served to just leave it be, and engage instead in the more fruitful activity of praying for those who may use such objects.

This is a bad idea. It is more likely to give the impression of a demand than it is to lower the number of units on the market. Better that it go unsold. Maybe people will find that nobody wants them and trash the ones they find in their attics right off the bat.

.
You could buy it, but I wouldn’t bring it into my house, because ouija boards are a channel, of occult, demonic forces.
I wouldn’t simply sand it off, but actually destroy it.
There are stories of bad things that happen when people use them, which I won’t provide here.

I’d leave it. Not worth the effort. And besides, it is an item that has no “power or influence” unless you think it does. A table designed in bad taste, inanimate, wood, pressboard and nothing more. Don’t even give it credit by allowing it to disturb you.

I think if the OP wants to pursue doing this, great.
I think that because the object is a table, it is perhaps more long-lasting and attention-getting than just the usual Ouija board in a box in somebody’s closet.
It would be funny to buy it, then destroy it right there by your car (bring an ax). Hah – just kidding.

A blessed item “loses its blessing” if it is sold. So, if the table is “cursed” then the curse goes with it after it is sold? (That would be with the assumption that it was even used, and “cursed” in the first place.) Pooh. It’s a table.

I suggest contacting a member of the Society of the Most Sorrowful Mother (Doloran Fathers) and ask them for their advice on this subject.

As FYI - they are an order of Exorcists founded by Fr. Chad Ripperger FSSP.

God Bless
