I’m 16 years old and I was taught that you are not allowed to confess unless you truly regret what you did and are trying to stop committing the sin. Does this mean that I am not allowed to confess a sin I know I might commit again?

You have to be able to make what is called a “firm purpose of amendment” to no longer commit the sins you are confessing. This does not mean that you aren’t aware that you might fall into committing a particular sin again. It simply means that, in the moment in the confessional, you will not to commit these sins again. If you do commit those sins again, you go back to confession and make another firm purpose of amendment. Eventually, if you persevere in your Christian life and in attending the sacraments, you can have hope that the grace of the sacrament of confession will eventually heal you of the spiritual brokenness that is at the root of your struggle with particular sins.
