A friend of mine is visiting San Diego and will have three days free to pray. She is a young lady who would like to find an orthodox place which has a chapel with the Eucharist to pray in. If possible she would like a place which is somewhat secluded. I was thinking of a retreat center or a monastery. Could you recommend any such places near San Diego? I would be very grateful. Thanks.

Dear J,

In San Diego proper I would suggest the Discalced Carmelite Nuns: www.carmelsandiego.com. However, they do not have a retreat house. But their chapel is in a quiet area and is open in the day. For a retreat house where you can stay over night, see below.

Outside of town I would suggest the Benedictine Monks at Prince of Peace Abbey in Oceanside: princeofpeaceabbey.org/

Fr. Vincent Serpa, O.P.
