I recently came across this article…

What if you know someone who you think would make a good Catholic? (Am I allowed to say that?)
They go to church (just about) every Sunday. They know the Catholic prayers. They understand and take part in the Catholic teaching of birth control. They ‘enjoy’ Mass. But they won’t commit. Either they are too afraid or they haven’t experienced anything intensely spiritual that draws them to make the final commitment of converting to the faith.

Can I pray that they convert? How do I go about that?
Can I pray the Rosary and fast on behalf of ‘hoping’ they convert? I don’t want to selfish about it. I really believe they would be great (as would anyone, right?), but I want them to feel it. I want them to feel called or pushed or whatever you call it.

Is this right?

Yes and just remember “Conversion can occur immediately or gradually, during one’s life or the moment before his death. Your prayers and sacrifices for conversion of souls are always in God’s Will and will bear fruit at the appropriate time. So, don’t give up on your friends and family. Convert them in secret.”

A friend of ours prayed a three year novena to Our Lady on behalf of my husband. He confessed this at my husband’s baptism into the Catholic faith

Absolutely pray for them to convert, but leave the rest to the Holy Spirit, everything else will be on His timetable!

That’s interesting, you pretty much described me about a year and a half ago. Other than the “doesn’t want to commit” part. 🙂 Once I did some reading, studying and research, I signed up for RCIA. I’m still in RCIA but hope to be confirmed this coming Easter. Yes, pray for them and so will I.
