Ok, at the church I confess at, Confessions are on Saturday from 4:00 to 5:00. I usually go to mass Sunday morning ( between 8:00 and 11:30, it all depends). So my question is, if I were to sin between when i confess and when i go to mass, can i recieve communion on Sunday morning. I would think so, because it seems nearly impossible not to sin.

The direct answer is NO you cannot receive Holy Communion without returning to the Sacrament of Reconciliation first if you are aware that you have committed a mortal sin.

Are you serious? I got to say I totally disagree with that. Then what was the point of me confessing on Saturday afternoon, if I still can’t recieve. Here is why, Sometimes I go to confession, I get home, my dad makes me angry, and i end up yelling at him. I didn’t do that this week, but i have done this sometimes. I thought the man sinned seventy times a day, or something like that. Sometimes, I can’t get to mass untill 8:00 at night!!!

The point of you confessing is to free yourself from mortal sin.

If you commit a mortal sin after confession then you are not free to recieve the Eucharist.

This would be so if it was only minutes between your confession and the start of Mass.

I do not understand why you think this is wrong.

Because it is hard not to sin from one day to the next, but if thats the way it is, then thats the way it is, even though i kinda disagreee with it.

P.S.- I Like your signature ByzCath.

After thinking about it, I guess ya’ll right. But I myself find it hard not to sin, and nowhere in my town does a priest offer confession before mass. I just thought you were “Exempt” in that period of time between when you confessed and Mass.

Ryan we all sin. You cannot recieve Communion if it is a mortal sin. At Mass, we are forgiven of our venial sins.

“But only say the Word and I shall be healed”

Mortal sins must be of grave matter, you must know it’s wrong and you must do it anyway, with consent.

Yelling at your father is wrong, but not ‘grave’.

You can take Communuion.

well thanks then!!! 😃

Welcome, but make sure to make-up with your father beforehand. We must obey our parents and honor them. 🙂

We’re not perfect, I most certainly am not, I’m not right all the time either. I try not to go to Communion if I’ve done something grave, but at times, I just can’t remember. If I go, that’s another grave sin, taking the Host in the state of Mortal sin.

Think about it as well, if you think you have done something grave in the span of a few hours, don’t go. Better not to have another Mortal sin.

The key word is mortal! Mortal sin–grave sin.

Not all sin is mortal!

Venial sin need not keep us from the Eucharist.

If you don’t remember a sin, it probably wasn’t mortal.

if you are convinced that you are commiting mortal sins several times a day, every day of the week, you need to have a talk with your confessor about what is and is not a mortal sin. and please take his advice, don’t ask for ours, we are not priests.
