Can I support the death penalty and be Catholic?

If, in my heart and/or through my actions I support the death penalty (for example, serving on a jury in a capital offense trial where the death penalty is/might be sought or actively working for passage of a law that mandates the imposition of the death penalty, etc.), can I, in Truth, call myself Catholic?
