Can I transfer from one Third Order to another without going through another novitiate?

I’ve been a Benedictine Oblate for several years now. The monastery I’m attached to has begun making changes in the program and, bluntly, this isn’t what I bargained for. I’m thinking about joining another Third Order. The Franciscans and Dominicans come to mind first. Is it possible to make such a change, to “transfer”, without having to go through another novitiate, given that I’ve been doing this (being a member of a Third Order, or the Benedictine version of one) for years now? I’m nonplussed so any (name removed by moderator)ut would be helpful. Thanks. 🙂

Hi,

Ordinarily, there has to be a period of formation for the person to learn the spirituality of the new Order.
