Hello everyone. Every Christmas we put up a nativity scene inside our home and on Christmas Eve we pray a rosary together with our family and pass out candy and sing Christmas carols. This year I have the idea of lighting incense prior to the Rosary in front of the nativity scene. Is it proper for a lay person to use incense and if so what prayer should I say while incensing the nativity scene? Also what is the best incense type to use. I was thinking frankensence [spelling] since that is one of the gifts for Jesus from the magi

This is one of those “whatever helps you” deals. If you want to use incense, have incense! There’s really no specific prayers to go with it, although for christmastime the Magnificat might be suitable.

Adding what DL said: Frankincense for Christmas would be VERY cool, especially for the Epiphany!

Another obvious possibility for prayer and reflection might be Psalm 141:

“I call upon you, O Lord; make haste to help me!
Give ear to my voice when I call to you!
Let my prayer be counted as incense before you,
And the lifting of my hands as an evening sacrifice!”

But as others have said, any heartfelt prayer is good.

I burn Frankincense during Christmas & Pontifical incense during Lent

I hope burning incense at home is OK. Burned a lot of it back in the 60’s but we weren’t really praying, and hymns in the background were by Iron Butterfly, Vanilla Fudge, and the three wise men, Crosby, Stills, and Nash. 😉😉😉

And Grand Funk Railroad, Steppenwolf, and Country Joe and the Fish!

Wish I had been, I was like, 12, but I was always a fan of that music.

I saw Janis Joplin live before she died, Cream (still faves) and Jimi Hendrix opened for them! that was 1970 and I was like in the 7th grade. My cousin took me.

I also saw Grand Funk twice, 3 Dog Night twice, Elton twice, Emerson Lake and Palmer (the first guys to do a huge light show) as well as many other “biggies” that I couldn’t begin to afford today. Tickets averaged around $20. I even had tickets to the Stones in Denver for $20 each, but my dad wouldn’t let me drive there and sleep in the car, LOL

Not that I’m playing one up or anything, but get this, I saw the Stones in Pittsburgh in 66 for $6.00. Only big group I missed out on were The Doors. Wish I had seen Morrison live. That would have been a show.

One other question. How much money would they have to pay you, to go see a Rap artist (and I use that term with something stuck in my throat) in concert?

Enough to retire.
One the beach.
With a Ferrari.
And a big honkin diamond.
9 foot concert grand Kawai
Private island maybe?

For starters. 🤣🤣🤣

Iron Butterfly and Vanilla Fudge. Oh man…that brings back the memories. So does the smell of incense…and the fragrance of other burning herbs.
