I remember a while ago I saw a website where people could volunteer to do a “spiritual bouquet” for Pope Benedict and they decided what exactly they will do, like Rosaries, little sacrifices, etc… they signed up on the website and got an email reminder. I thought that was really neat.

I’ve been praying about all this and it seems that today, the world really needs prayer… the Church is being attacked, so is the Pope, there is a crisis going in the Church, we also need to pray for peace and for conversion of sinners… I think this is something that Our Lady called us to do in Fatima: to pray the Rosary for peace and conversion. Well I know this but I always forget. I had an idea to do a type of “spiritual bouquet” every week for one or more of these intentions. However, I’m only one person, and I’m not like St John Vianney or the victim souls who bring so many graces into the world. I’m just a really regular lay person. God listens to every prayer, but I think it would be more effective if many people prayed.

I had this idea, to make a website or something and encourage others to pray for these intentions, and sign up - kind of like in the website for Pope Benedict. They wouldn’t need to give any information, they’ll just get an email as a reminder with the list of things they decided to do. People could do like a “spiritual bouquet” every week including the Rosary or the Divine Mercy chaplet, and non Catholics could participate as well if they want. This way, there could be a more structured way to pray for the world. I know that this is kind of ambitious and I’m not presuming that this would be some sort of worldwide movement lol. But maybe God can use it in some way? It’s not about me or starting an organization or a “movement” or anything like that… I will stay completely anonymous. I just really care about these intentions and I think it would be great if many people prayed together. People can also leave prayer intentions on the website as well.

However… I am not sure… can lay people organize something like that? Or should it be a Bishop, or a Catholic organization of some sort? what do you think? and should I ask permission from a priest? (that would be good I think)

Here is something similar that Fr Z did a while ago: wdtprs.com/blog/wdtprs-spiritual-bouquet-for-pope-benedict-for-st-josephs-day-19-march/ but can a lay person organize it too or should it be a priest? I don’t really feel qualified but when I thought of this idea, I liked it.

thanks 🙂

I think it sounds like a great idea. I cannot think of anything prohibiting a layperson from starting up such an initiative. Let me know when it’s up and running. 👍

hey you ever heard of the Rosary confraternity? i think that’s something you’d be interested in joining its free and no obligations other than praying for your fellow members and praying the full Rosary in a week God bless

Thanks for the reply 🙂 I think I’ll talk to my priest about it to see what he thinks and so it’s under obedience and everything… I just found out the SSPX is doing something like this, which is great, but most Catholics are not SSPX. If there was a “movement” like that for Catholic laypeople already started by someone, I would simply join. But I can’t find anything. I just feel really uncertain because I am only a lay person. I guess whatever I’ll write on the website to explain the idea, I’ll ask my priest to approve. I’m just afraid that even though I had this idea for the right reasons, it might look presumptious or too big for someone like me? 🤷 Maybe I’ll try to involve others and work in a team, with a priest as well.

oh yes I am part of the Rosary Confraternity in fact 🙂

I think what I was trying to say, is that I’ll pray no matter what… but my idea was to help others to commit to praying as well for these intentions, so that we can actually make a difference. I don’t think my prayers would be enough. But I just dont know if as a lay person it’s even a good idea for me to start a website like that.

There was an elderly priest who used to serve at my old parish. When he passed away, we helped go through his office to figure out what was personal stuff, what was parish stuff, etc.

The parish school’s Class of 1952 had done a spiritual bouquet for him, and he’d kept the framed tally-memento in his office for decades until his death in the mid-90’s. It was obviously something very special to him. 🙂

The kids had tallied up:
Masses
Communions
Rosaries
Visits
Aspirations

I have no clue what “visits” are (Adoration?), but those are some ideas for categories for your website. The cool thing is is that they take varying levels of time, concentration, and effort, so there’s a little something there for every commitment level.

that is so neat 🙂 thanks! I think it’s great they did this for the priest! That’s a great gift to give to a priest 🙂 yea I was thinking of doing something like that for Pope Benedict and the Church in general, & the world…

There are so many Lay initiated prayers Groups. You can set one up here, with your idea of Prayer Intentions. Of Course we have our own CAF Prayer Group. Massive number of Prayers brought the Soviet Union down, firmly, with Blessed John Paul II the Great, as Pastor to The World, and Poland!. Vivat Jesu.
