Can mortal sins be forgiven?

I didnt know I have once commites a mortal sin. I have gone through confession and then after the Priest analyzed all of my sins and let me prayed 5 hail marys and act of contrition. I have noticed recieving the communion before confession is a mortal sin. The Priest ask me if I recieve the communion without confession but thats all I remember. Can a Mortal Sin be forgiven? Because I didnt know I was in a state of a mortal sin.

You may have done something that was seriously contrary to God’s will but, if you didn’t know it to be so at the time, then you didn’t commit a mortal sin. You cannot unwittingly, unwillingly or unintentionally commit a mortal sin.
