Can my guardian angel hear or know my thoughts?

Do I have to pray out loud for my guardian angel to hear me? Can my angel hear any or all my thoughts? What about other angels - and demons?

I believe it is reasonable to assume that your Guardian Angel, and other Angels, can know your thoughts, so long as God wills it. Scripture tells us that our angels always behold God’s face (Mt 18:10). We are also told that when we are in heaven, we shall be like the angels, and that we shall see as God sees…clearly. So, it stands to reason that, through God and in accordance with His will, they can know our thoughts and prayers.

Demons, on the other hand, have separated themselves permanently from God, so I see no reason to believe they could know your thoughts.

Do they all have same batting average, or are some better at their jobs than others? CCC 336 From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. “Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life.” Already here on earth the Christian life shares by faith in the blessed company of angels and men united in God.

Psalm 91: 10-12 A heavenly spirit assigned by God to watch over each of us during our lives. The doctrine of angels is part of the Church’s tradition. The role of the guardian angel is both to guide us to good thoughts, works and words, and to preserve us from evil. Since the 17th century the Church has celebrated a feast honoring them in October throughout the Universal Church. Since the last calendar revision this feast was on Oct 2.

He has charged His angels with the ministry of watching and safeguarding every one of His creatures that behold not His face. Kingdoms have their angels assigned to them, and men have their angels; these latter it is to whom religion designates the Holy Guardian Angels. Finally they guards us against sin and temptation,and inspire us holy thought ,protects us against varies attacks of evil spirits (fallen angles or bad angles)

They are The Nine Choirs of Angels
Seraphim
These are the highest order or choir of angels. They are the angels who are attendants or guardians before God’s throne. They praise God, calling, “Holy Holy Holy is the Lord of Hosts”. the only Bible reference is Isaiah 6:1-7. One of them touched Isaiah’s lips with a live coal from the altar, cleansing him from sin. Seraphim have six wings, two cover their faces, two cover their feet, and two are for flying.

Cherubim
Cherubim rank after the seraphim and are the second highest in the nine hierarchies or choirs of angels. The Old Testament does not reveal any evidence that the Jews considered them as intercessors or helpers of God. They were closely linked in God’s glory. They are manlike in appearance and double-winged and were guardians of God’s glory. They symbolized then, God’s power and mobility. In the New Testament, they are alluded to as celestial attendants in the Apocalypse (Rv 4-6). Catholic tradition describes them as angels who have an intimate knowledge of God and continually praise Him.

Thrones
Thrones are the Angels of pure Humility, Peace and Submisssion. They reside in the area of the cosmos where material form begins to take shape. The lower Choir of Angels need the Thrones to access God.

Dominions
Dominions are Angels of Leadership. They regulate the duties of the angels, making known the commands of God.

Virtues
Virtues are known as the Spirits of Motion and control the elements. They are sometimes referred to as “the shining ones.” They govern all nature. They have control over seasons, stars, moon; even the sun is subject to their command. They are also in charge of miracles and provide courage, grace, and valor.>

Powers
Powers are Warrior Angels against evil defending the cosmos and humans. They are known as potentates. They fight against evil spirits who attempt to wreak chaos through human beings. The chief is said to be either Samael or Camael, both angels of darkness.

Archangels
Archangels are generally taken to mean “chief or leading angel” ( Jude 9; 1 Thes 4:16), they are the most frequently mentioned throughout the Bible. They may be of this or other hierarchies as St. Michael Archangel, who is a princely Seraph. The Archangels have a unique role as God’s messenger to the people at critical times in history and salvation (Tb 12:6, 15; Jn 5:4; Rv 12:7-9) as in The Annunciation and Apocalypse. A feast day celebrating the Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael is celebrated throughout the Church Sep 29. A special part of the Byzantine Liturgy invokes the “Cherubic Hymn” which celebrates these archangels and the guardian angels particularly.

Of special significance is St. Michael as he has been invoked as patron and protector by the Church from the time of the Apostles. The Eastern Rite and many others place him over all the angels, as Prince of the Seraphim. He is described as the “chief of princes” and as the leader of the forces of heaven in their triumph over Satan and his followers. The angel Gabriel first appeared in the Old Testament in the prophesies of Daniel, he announced the prophecy of 70 weeks (Dn 9:21-27). He appeared to Zechariah to announce the birth of St. John the Baptist (Lk 1:11). It was also Gabriel which proclaimed the Annunciation of Mary to be the mother of our Lord and Saviour. (Lk 1:26) The angel Raphael first appeared in the book of Tobit (Tobias)Tb 3:25, 5:5-28, 6-12). He announces “I am the Angel Raphael, one of the seven who stand before the throne of God.” (Tb 12:15)

Principalities
In the New Testament Principalities refers to one type of spiritual (metaphysical) being which are now quite hostile to God and human beings. (Rom 8:38; 1 Cor 15:24; Eph 1:21; 3:10; 6:12; Col 1:16; 2:10, 15) Along with the principalities are the powers (Rom 8:38; 1 Cor 15:24; Eph 1:21; 1 Pt 3:22; 2 Thes 1:7); and cosmological powers (1 Cor 15:24; Eph 1:21; 3:10; Col 2:15);Dominions (Eph 1:21; Col 1:16) and thrones (Col1:16). The clarity of the New Testament witness helps see that these beings were created through Christ and for Him (Col 1:16). Given their hostility to God and humans due to sin, Christ’s ultimate rule over them (ibid) expresses the reign of the Lord over all in the cosmos. This is the Lordship of Christ, which reveals God’s tremendous salvation in conquering sin and death at the cross, and now takes place in the Church. (Eph 3:10)

Angels
These angels are closest to the material world and human begins. They deliver the prayers to God and God’s answers and other messages to humans. Angels have the capacity to access any and all other Angels at any time. They are the most caring and social to assist those who ask for help.

You other 3 questions are up to you. They don’t have a “batting average”. Your angel works to guide you to light, but it is up to you to make a decision via your free will. So, if you insist on reducing their task to a batting average, then they always bat 1.000 because they always do what they are supposed to do. It is man, not our angels, who swing and miss on a regular basis. Intentionally asking your Guardian Angel can improve YOUR batting average because it rightly refocuses YOU to choose right vs. wrong. If you think its more efficient to say the Lord’s Prayer, and rely alone on that, then that’s great. Many of us, however, don’t reduce God’s gifts to us into “efficiency”, and we accept ALL that He has offered us, including the help of Angels.

I am saying the Angel will help guide you to good thoughts/choices. It is up to YOU to make a choice.

What makes you think it isn’t doing such?

And if it is, what’s the point of asking it for more?

For me, personally? The point is making myself aware that I do have assistance and that I need not rely on myself. It also helps me grow closer to God because it gives me another means by which I can recognize His presence in my life. It helps me form a relationship with another being made entirely of spirit and to recognize that the material world is not the end-all-be-all of creation. It helps me realize that there are also evil forces at play, who would like to see me fail and distance myself from God.

You will be surprised what they can do like if you ask they with faith and love of God to wake you up in the morning ,they will ,surely do it ,like gently taping your on you hand or if waiting for a long time for the bus or cab,train etc ask them to bring them faster they will do so,ask them to protect you from accident,sins temptations, ask them to protect your children at school ,with will do it ,the list is endless.

Our Guardian Angels have seen God and they, unlike us, cannot disobey Him.

We pray for thier intercession, which guides our free will to better choices.

They are assigned to us to help with spiritual as well as physical dangers.They work for our good and are our intecessors before God.

The angel will try to guide you towards the right influences, but since you have free will, and there are also demons trying to guide you towards the bad influences, it’s a struggle.

It is helpful to turn to the traditional Catholic prayer to the Guardian Angel that children often say:
Angel of God, my guardian dear,
To whom God’s love commits me here,
Ever this day, be at my side,
To light, to guard, to rule, to guide. Amen.

This describes what a guardian angel does:
They Light (show us the right way, as in God’s way); they Guard (protect us); they Rule (remind us of the “rules” established by God and what we should be doing, similar to a teacher managing her class, or a military guard telling you an area is off limits); and they Guide (point us to the right paths).

As the person above said, the Angel does all these things, but it’s you who still make the choice. A guard can tell you an area is off limits and don’t go there and instead follow the correct path marked by the lights, but you can still choose to defy the guard and run off the path into the off-limits area. If you get blown up by a mine, it’s your fault - the guard told you not to go there.

Either way, why isn’t this angel doing its best to “guard” me without my asking for that help? And if it is, what’s the point of asking it for more?

The angel is doing its best all the time. It doesn’t start working only when we call it - this isn’t magic, or flipping a switch on a robot. Praying to your Angel is a way of acknowledging the good things it does and building a relationship with it, the same as you would with a saint. Think how many Guardian Angels do their job every day and are totally ignored. It makes them happy when somebody shows a little appreciation by talking to them, thanking them, etc. via prayer. And, if you are in good communication with your Angel, you’ll be better attuned to the Angel’s warnings and guidance to avoid danger and sin.

Prayer is basically communication and relationship building. If you want to have good, open communications and build the relationship with your spouse, you talk to them regularly, probably every day. Same for building a relationship with God, Mary, saints and angels.

If you direct your thoughts to your Guardian Angel, he can hear them. Angels are not rude, they do not intrude into your thoughts without permission.
