Can non-christians go to heaven?

I have a Jewish friend who is dying of cancer. A fundamentalist friend has said “she cannot go to heaven, because she has not accepted Jesus Christ as her savior.” I say Jesus died for the sins of all mankind; and since my friend loves God and loves her fellow man (which she has shown by her actions) she will be welcomed to heaven by our loving God. What say you?
