I am Lutheran and my husband is Catholic. We attend services for both religions. We have decided to baptize our future children Catholic. Can my brother and sister-in-law be Godparents? He is Lutheran, she was baptized Catholic and converted to Lutheran when they got married.

Dear Angie,

Catholic children need Catholic Godparents. Should anything happen to you and your husband, the Children would need to have Catholic role models to guide them. Godparents for Catholic children must not only be Catholic, they must be practicing Catholics. Actually, only one Godparent is required. You brother and sister-in-law can be official witnesses.
