I have several books on Fr. Keating’s centering prayer that I bought several years ago. Having come to know and understand my faith more fully, and having read more from the centering prayer “movement” (a recent book has a glowing review by Ken Wilber), I now question the orthodoxy of this practice. I no longer want to keep the books and am wondering in this situation if it is best just to throw them away or if I should donate them to the library. I would not mind if they were used for research but fear that they could lead someone astray down the path of New Age spiritualism.

Unless the books are so bad as to not have any redeeming merit at all and are a positive danger to souls – such as, say, books on the occult might be – you are free to do what you like with them.
