Can the devil see the future?

We believe that God is all-knowing, and we are told that God wins in the end, and the devil and evil are defeated. Does the devil know this? If so, why doesn’t he give up, if he knows he is ultimately defeated?

No, the devil cannot see the future, although he probably guesses that he cannot win.

Remember, misery loves company. If he goes down, he wants to take as many people with him as he can.
 
I believe you are dead on. The devil knows we are made in the image and likeness of God and also knows Gods love for us so it would please him to cause us to be separated from God’s love as he himself is.

Actually, because of the sin of pride, I doubt he does guess that he can’t win and, unfortunately, he does win some souls.
 
The Devil has no clue when the end will be anyway - only our God - the Father. Also, Devil does not know anything about humility - that was what he was purnished for by God - hence, he would never give up. After the last judgement day, all he has left would be the ruined souls.

note: I heard on the Sacred Heart Radio in Seattle saying that devil can know future to some extend.
 
He may or may not know that his war is doomed from the start. He might not believe that the end is a forgone conclusion. But even if the Devil knows the cause is lost it wouldn’t suprise me that he would fight to the bitter end. Human history if filled with examples of countries fighting wars they know cannot be won.

Considering that the devil and his followers had actually seen God face to face and now know they never will again is an absolutely terrifying thought.

Keep in mind that the devil is not subject to time, so the question is a bit of a mystery. Only God knows fully the final outcome, but as others have said, Satan must know he cannot “win” and he can read Scripture as well as any - and probably understands the implications better. After all, Satan was an angel living in the presence of God and knows God’s power better than we do. However, because of his choice, he hates God and because God loves us, he hates us. He wants to hurt God and knows that every soul he can wrench from the hand of God grieves God. So he will never stop until he is cast into the lake of fire. In fact, you can be sure that as he senses his end nearing, he will fight even more viciously - like the wounded and cornered beast that he is.

But, it is sufficient for us to know that we have the victory.
 
Satan might have a limited ability to see the future, as that would explain his ability to inspire those that use Tarot Cards, some Clairvoyance, and extreme magicianism.

I agree that Satan is trying to take as many down as possible with him, just to hurt God. At the same time, God is practising His “turn the other cheek rule” as He isn’t stopping Satan. This tells me that though Satan has gone beyond forgiveness and probably made God cry, God is still being merciful to Him. After all, to have to spend eternity in Hell would probably be a very good reason for God to be merciful before all that took place.

Anybody share my thoughts or new ones?

I can’t remember where I heard this, but regarding the devil and his minions, they spend their time watching us intently, hoping to catch us in weak moments.

Basically the various means to predict the future are really “demons” that can tell us, maybe through others or other material means, how we think, what we think, what we do, because they watch us and our interactions with others, so it isn’t a stretch for them to know our basic tendencies and project those into the future.

If they can get us to believe that people can tell us our future, maybe they can get us to rely on that other than God’s providence. Once we do that, then maybe eventually we will lose our way, and turn from God. Then they win.

The devil is pretty clever, smarter than we are, and loves to mix the Truth with error, leading many to confusion. If he does know he can’t win, I think his lack of humility clouds his “judgement”.
