Can the Mass be celebrated in a non-Catholic church?

Here is something that actually happened not that long ago also.

A fireman was killed in our town, and being that he was young, and also a fireman, People came from all over to the Services. Many Fire fighters from all over.

Now the Fireman was not Catholic, but our Church was the only Church big enough to have all of the People. So they used the CC.

I think this is also a good example of how far we have come in our faith, and how while we may not be in complete communion with eachother we can still all be Children of God together in His house.

Confession Yes, Mass No. I’m not positive But I don’t think even a Bishop can aprove this except for dire emergcies?

Sometimes. one forgets that a factual statement is: One who disagrees with the CC on the topics of Faith and Morals; is defacto; choosing to disagree with God. Not a good idea; if salvation is important to you.

In the Apostles and Nicene creed, the term holy catholic (and apostolic) church does not speak to buildings. As I recall, John Paul ll celebrated mass in an open field when local authorities would not give permission to build a church. My congregation was housed for the first 13 years of its existence in a Jewish synagogue. The first Catholic church where I grew up is now a black protestant congregation. The second one is a private home. Beloved as the buildings may be, as full of memories, and as meaningful as they may be, they are only buildings. If something happens to them, the church still exists, because it is the people that make up the church, not bricks and mortar.

BUT just for clairifications sake: Catholics Churches, much like the OT did for th Temple of God, goes through a quite elaborate Blessing before it is used s God’s house.

When for what ever reason the church building is abandoned; there is also a strict procedure used to make it once again suitable for secular use." The Altar , The Tabernacle, Statues, and Stations of The Cross are all removed. The Only religious identfication ,left usually are stained glass windows if the church had them.
