I sincerely bow out of this conversation! I do not understand the legal terminology of the courts, nor of the Church. Obviously, anyone with knowledge of legalities can infer that from my posts. I couldn’t understand why I was always falling short in my law classes from that A or B.Hello Br. Allen,
I know it might seem like a minor detail but a better way to say it is “intending not to be faithful.” There needs to be a “positive act of the will” and not a non-act of the will, when we are talking about invalid marital consent…if that makes any sense.

“Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife” … the bride may be coveted … and falls into adultery, probably after being impaired by drink. I know of two women hurt in that manner, and they both were taken to the divorce court, even when they begged for forgiveness. I don’t feel that way about men, though … usually the men have other complaints or none that they will admit to! One specifically was that his wife would not return to Ohio, where they were both originally from … still alcohol was involved too. Being held back from their education aspirations: I mean I have a divorced cousin who went from mechanic to professor, and divorced his wife for not going along with that trajectory. (He really hates her.)
These are the reasons we have to generally except, and, as I said, often none are given. I even had a divorced fella request that I spend time with him, although he was divorced from my 2nd cousin. Very tough for an unmarried woman to get through that.
