Colbert is doing his knock off of Bill O’Reily (The Factor) … his show graphics etc are direct parodies. Also Colbert did an interview on O’Reily and vice versa after the show was into its second year (if I remember correctly).

The reason we have no “news” on “cable” or the “networks” is that we nolonger have any NEWS REPORTERS. IMNSO, no one is objective anymore and they are all trying to get you to bow down to the god of global warming and the god of wealth redistribution.

I never saw O’Reilly, that’s probably why I didn’t get the reference.

Actually, I think the real decline of news began when corporations began buying up the news media. Now, reporters have to think about how their stories will affect the shareholders and their interests.

You do understand that both Hannity and O’Reilly are not ** news** reporters but commentators/analysts?

Please tell me you know that those are two different things, and never the twain are supposed to meet, but in practice they do.

Back in 2000, veteran news reporter Walter Cronkite appeared on Larry King. Larry asked him what he thought about today’s news programming. He replied that he didn’t like the tabloidization of the news.

cnn.com is absolutely terrible. BBC News is better. I’ve discovered I have to go to specific sites to get the latest actual news on specific subjects.

The swimsuit model murder was described in such gruesome detail that it went far beyond what the public ought to know.

News departments, including print, have been cut way back. My local channel blares loud music, before an announcer’s loud voice introduces the “news.”

Let’s see: 5 minutes of news, 5 minutes of sports, 5 minutes of weather, and then the most important part: the commercials.

A local station has created an after-the-news program to discuss issues of the day. Inevitably, everyone gets loud, starts trying to talk over each other and it’s so annoying, I will not listen to it again.

I am expecting the following any day now: “This is the Voice of Terror! Shootings, killings, murders! And more… right after this.”

Peace,
Ed

If that was directed toward my comment then:

Yes I know this.

I also know that ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, PBS, CBC, BBC, et al. are full of “commentators” vice honnest newsmen (as are the vast majority of bird cage liners that are the news papers in the US, UK, and Canada).

Soma for the masses.
