What we are talking about is a persons ability to repent, if that person responds to God’s grace. There is no sin so great that it cannot be forgiven by God. If we don’t believe this, think of the crucifixion. That is the greatest sin ever committed by man. Yet the first thing Jesus said on the cross, was "Father forgive them for they know not what they do. "
Fortunately, that forgiveness comes to each of us through God’s infinite mercy. That mercy is so great that the Church has even set the Sunday after Easter as a universal day of celebration in the Church as “Divine Mercy Sunday.” Each of us is a recipient of this mercy because of Gods infinite love for each one of us, no matter how despicable we may be. As long as we are truly sorry, he forgives. Thank God.
