Can women be canon lawyers?

I’ve heard a few canon lawyers speak on the Catholic Answers Live radio program and wondered how one goes about becoming a canon lawyer. Do you have to be male (those that I heard where all men)?

I’m a cradle Catholic and have been a practicing civil lawyer for almost ten years. Canon law has always interested me.
