If Padre Pio did not give me absolution and everybody saw, I would sure make up a story. Do you think I’d tell you the truth? To all my neighbors? I sure don’t think so.
Back in Padre Pio’s time, women had to wear a scarf on their head for mass, their necklines had to be up at their collar bone, and I think long sleeves as well. My sister in law as a kid went to church with her aunt who did not have a head covering handy so she bobby pinned a kleenix to the top of her head. So it was in the last century.

I used to hand my handkerchief over to a young lady so she could use a bobby pin to keep it on her head. What’s the big deal? This was done out of respect.
