Can you confess the sin of receiving the communion while in state of mortal sin?

Hi! My friend received the communion while in state of mortal sin. Can she be forgiven if she confessed this during the sacrament of reconciliation? Thanks!!
 
Yes, it can be confessed and forgiven (like all sins).
