i was planning of making a dungeons and dragons character based on st. michael the archangel but im not sure if that’s alright with the Church. im not comparing myself to the archangel or trying to create anything offensive but this being my 1st time playing d&d, thought it would be fun to create a character inspired by someone like him, finding out how many references there is to the church (with classes such as “priests” and “monks” and spells like “divine favor” and “purify of food and drink”)
my mom brought up an interesting point while it is fine to make a character based on a saint since they at some point in their lives were regular people, it’s different for archangels as they were on a whole another level of holiness and to compare yourself to them would be sacrilegious.
once again, as a Catholic, i dont wanna be disrespectful or put down the archangel but i wanna create a character out of respect and maybe inspired my non-Catholic friends to look into Catholicism and cool we are (lol)
and no, d&d isnt Satanic or evil or whatever; it’s just a regular game where you play pretend just like a movie or a play or any other thing. i made sure of that thanks to some googling
