Can you even imagine life without God?

This question is generally meant for theists. I already know - or presume to know - what an atheist would say. I’m not interested.

In his book, The God Delusion, notes atheist Richard Dawkins contents that a supernatural creator almost certainly does not exist and that religious faith is delusional.

Can you even conceive your life without faith? I’m at a loss. My whole life operates and is guided by the belief in God. I can’t imagine a single day going by that is not influenced by God.

Even if I am delusional, I can’t imagine life without God, faith, church, bible, etc. Can you?

We’re all wired differently, so for some people, non-belief doesn’t cause any particular distress.

However, we don’t exist in a vacuum.

As the US becomes more secular, the rates of anxiety, depression and substance abuse are also rising.

I am simply not convinced that Something can arise from Nothng, and until it’s proved otherwise, I will always believe That There Is A God.

For reasons that are too long to delve into here. I am confident that the Judeo-Christian Father-God, Savior-God is correct, and I live my life accordingly

Not only that, life would become irrational. Life would be boiled down to a series of random meaningless events.

Sure we can attach all sort of meaning, but in the end it’s just chaos and all for nothing.

It’s hard not to become a nihilist with this worldview.

No, He’s always been a part if my life, like the air I breath.

Certainly not. Without God, there is no hope.
Also, contrary to what the atheists on CAF would have us believe, once you remove God, there is no reason for morality and no meaning in life.

With no God, there is no creation at all.

So… imagine you don’t exist. Then imagine nothing else does either.

I can’t, because without God, I would have found it quite logical to just exit this life, probably a long time ago. If all we were was earthly life + a void, there would be no point in prolonging the inevitable.

I can’t even imagine not believing in God, in His goodness, and in eternal life. I really wonder how people cope in this life without belief that all things WILL eventually “be well,” as Julian of Norwich would say, in God’s time and in His great plan. But obviously many people do cope just fine, it seems. A mystery.
I only know that I’ve been given faith and I need to respond to it.

I can imagine a life without God. It would be both better and worse, more and less scary, more and less fulfilling. A belief in God(mainly the modern Christian God) can make one feel loved and special and give more direction in life. It can also take away freedoms and make one feel like they have to live a certain way even if it doesn’t make them happy. A belief in God can make death less scary if one believes they will go to heaven and that their loved ones will go to heaven. It can also make death more scary if one has a strong belief in hell or thinks they or loved ones could go there. Not believing in God makes death less scary because they don’t fear hell and some find peace in knowing they don’t live on eternally. Belief in God can give ones life more fulfillment, feeling like they are living for something outside of themselves and have some clear set of rules or doctrines to follow and heaven to look forward to, especially in the midst of suffering. Not believing in God can allow someone to live life more fully because it can allow someone to accept they don’t live forever and push them to make the most out of life and focus more on living in the presence and not focusing on the future or living a certain way

Doesn’t belief in God and eternity also give one an excuse to not prolong life? I mean if heaven is really the goal, wouldn’t death be something people look forward to? I do understand that it may be sinful to kill oneself, so that’s not an option, but what about just not accepting treatments that prolong life? Death is still inevitable regardless of whether God exists

There a lot of factors that can play a role in that. I don’t think that less religious people is the main culprit though. It probably has more to do with the advances in technology and it’s affects in socialization, the family, and probably just more emphasis and knowledge on mental health

I don’t doubt those factors also come in to play.
But you still don’t do yourself any favors by cutting yourself off from Truth

I can imagine life without God because I lived it when I was young. It was horrible.
