Can you ‘scientific,’ atheist geniuses please explain to me why you believe in the God of chance? The odds of the mere chance happenstance of even a simple strand of DNA appearing on earth, given that the earth is ~4.5 billion years old, are WELL over a billion to one. Even if that were to occur, the odds of even a small protein assembling itself by chance is ~ 20^100 to 1.

With these FACTS in mind and the reasonable acceptance of the AHTEIST philosopher, David Hume’s maxim of, ’ No event that is more miraculous than the miracle that it seeks to discredit ( i.e., God’s creation of our universe) can be used as an explanation to deny that a miracle actually occurred.’ Why do you nevertheless place such great faith, against INSANE odds, in the God of chance?

Why, also do you mock our Christian faith which is backed by an historical account? A belief that requires MUCH LESS faith that yours does.

how do you approach this arguement

Well. Pure dumb luck is a lot easier to believe in then some omni-impotent creator.

And you’re telling me that the Bible is a historical document? It says that a man survived on his own inside the belly of a “great fish” for three days and nights. A big fish swallowed Jonah and did not eat him.

How did Jonah breathe? What did he eat? Why didn’t the fish’s stomach acids digest Jonah?

The fish must have been a shark and yet the biggest fish in the sea, a whale shark, still could not hold a man in its stomach. A Great White would have eaten him. And if the Bible is the word of God. How come god didn’t know about the word “whale” and that they are different from fishes?

The Bible is so much more fantastic than believing that some DNA got luckier than others.

Also the Bible is the word of God, correct? So if part of it’s wrong then all of it is wrong. There are only absolutes when involved with God.

Just because those same geeky scientists have a few ridiculous mathematical equations to back their theories? Have you ever tried SOLVING them and SEEING for YOURSELF? Have you actually MEASURED the distance of the sun from the earth? “Seeing is believing”, right (according to you)? So why don’t you fly up to space, bring your calculators like the know-it-all’s that you are, and measure the earth’s diameter?! Then take a few pictures (don’t forget to smile for the camera - so we can SEE you) on the sun and lecture US about Truth with your charred remains! We’ll believe YOUR lousy scientific theories when we can see whales transform into ants through “adaptation” before our very eyes. Have you actually seen, touched, smelled, felt, tasted a light-year or visited the Andromeda galaxy? Have you seen apes magically evolve into humans? And yet you accept these so-called “facts” as plain truth. You’d rather believe in ALIENS?

Here, my friends, is the simple Truth: your “scientists” invent fancy words and blatantly annoying formulas to confuse the common man and to mask their own ignorance.

You wouldn’t say meeting your special someone was pure luck or chance, would you? Ok. Try killing yourself right now and see if THAT was pure chance. Then you’ll see what comes after.

“You have eyes, yet do not see. You have ears, yet do not hear.”

Just because you believe something, doesn’t make it true.

Facts can either be right, or wrong. Where did you get yours?

Chance, is not God. And the odds, are probably more in our favor than you think. The same elements on this planet, are the same elements we find in the other planets of our solar system. Our planet just happened to be in the right place for life, as we know it, to form. We also know, that these same elements are abundant in the rest of the universe.

You can’t say that life doesn’t exist else where. Even on Mars or any of the other planets within our own solar system, some kind of life could exist. Just not in the form we currently recognize. Until we can travel to other worlds, we won’t know.

So than means that there are probably Billions, maybe trillions or more, planets capable of sustaining life! Planets that have a similar origin to ours in other solar systems, that we simply don’t have the technology to see, or explore. There may be life on other worlds more advance than we are, and planets where life has just emerged!

Christianity does have a long history. But we all know, that history is often biased, and found to be written in such a way by certain people, to portray what they WANT you and I to think about situations an people. And with no way to really verify these “facts”, I have to remain skeptical, that most of the information is even true.

A great example is Elvis (You should watch Penn and Teller’s Bull Sh1t. That’s were this example comes from).

There are books out there that claim to have the King’s favorite fried chicken recipe. And they are often different! maybe not by much but they are still different. He died 30 or so years ago!

If we can’t even agree on what recipe made up Elvis’s favorite fried chicken, then how the heck can you, or anyone else claim the Bible is totally accurate and true!?

Even the gospels themselves contradict one another, and we have thousand of denominations of Christianity to prove that even you can’t agree among yourselves on what to believe!

And in addition to Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, all the Native American Gods, Egyptian Gods and many, many others, also have long histories.

So how then, can you claim that your Christian God is the right God, given the thousands that have been, and still are being worshiped?

Seems like you have the same problem. Accept you have no proof at all that your God is the right one. I at least have evidence of the possibility of life on other worlds.

So I disagree. Science offers much more evidence and requires much less “faith” than any religion I know of.

these are some of the best arguements ive found that athiests confront their situation in a life being an athiests how do you all approach such standpoints

Wow. I don’t know which of you will win this debate but I’m rooting for both.
