I’m 30 years old, I was baptized catholic when I turned 6 or 7 my mother converted to JW therefore never had my 1st communion or confirmation. I grew up going to church on sundays with my grandparents til the age 12 and eventually began attending JW Kingdom Hall with my mom until the age of 16 but never “converted”. My father remained inactive catholic and our home was always torn. My entire family, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and circle of freinds are all strong catholics. I met a wonderfu catholic girl and over the past year we have been attending catholic church and bible study and I love it. before I go to our preist I need all of your help with my questions.
  1. Whats steps do I take to become catholic?
  2. I’ve been recieving holy communion is that ok? some say yes because i’m baptized others say no please help??
Thanks for the help!

Hi,

Even though you have been baptised a Catholic, you still need instructions before receiving any more sacraments. So you need to refrain from receiving the Eucharist for now. Whoever told you that you may receive now needs instructions as well. You will need to go to Confession first. See your local priest. He will see that your receive the instructions you need. If you have any trouble, let me know (vserpa@catholic.com). You are in our prayers.

Fr. Vincent Serpa, O.P.
