Can you help me?

since becoming catholic i have been going to confession regularly.
but one thing i can never bring myself to voice out loud was that i was abused as a young child by my brother. i was in 3rd grade he was in 8th. should i confess this or not. im just so ashamed it even seems horrible to even write it . for a very long time i would not even admit it to myself out loud., any help on this thank you

Hi,

There is no reason for you to mention this in Confession. You didn’t commit any sin by being the victim. So often it is the vicitm who feels guilty. However, mentioning this to your confessor might enable him to suggest a good counselor who might help you to get passed the imappropriate guilt feelings. You are in our prayers.
