How can I honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus outside of Mass? I am new to this and I want to get into the habit of celebrating the Catholic monthly devotions. I think it would really help me live out my faith.

A Novena is always nice. You can google “Sacred Heart novena” and find a whole bunch of them.

Also, you could make the Nine First Fridays.

On each First Friday you just need to be in a state of grace and receive Holy Communion in honor and reparation to the Sacred Heart, for nine consecutive months. Some people also spend an hour at Adoration either on the First Friday or on the Thursday right before it, but that is optional.

Also, you could display and honor a picture of Jesus showing his Sacred Heart, in your home. In the first part of the 20th Century, many Catholic homes had such a picture because Jesus was reported to have said he would bless every home where a picture of his Sacred Heart was displayed and honored.

Thank you so much! I will pray that prayer and I’ll see if I can draw/paint His Sacred Heart to keep in my home!

I was visiting my parents (yesterday for us) and my mother read out a beautiful prayer that my dad and I listened to.Have you got someone to pray with?
I hope the drawing/painting goes well 🙂

Post a picture of your Sacred Heart when you are done drawing or painting Him!
I’m sure Jesus will be so happy that you took the time to create art in His honor.

Read the promises Jesus made to St. Margaret Mary to those who honor his Heart. They are an excellent guide to this devotion.

Do something kind for someone else. Spread the love. Get a priest a gift, cheer someone up or give to a charity and offer to it to the sacred heart of Jesus.

We have the Sacred Heart above the entrance door entrusting all who come in to His care as for protection of the family.
This was so in our parents, and grandparents’ homes… Whether it is a family tradition or a broader tradition,I do not know but it is an oval little stamp sort of plastified somebody ,probably grandma made some tiny crochet trim around.
And as we opened one of my father-in- law’s (who died when my husband was 14) very old suitcases,we found one just like ours in there.
I am consecrated with our children to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Jesus ,we trust in You.
Help us be better persons more like Your Heart.
