I was raised a Catholic from birth. A “Cradle Catholic” as I have come to learn the term after reading many different posts on your forum’s for some time now.
When I was a teenager I rejected God and told him I didn’t want him in my life. I said to him following your rules is too hard and following them just causes me to be unhappy and miss out on fun.
I was young and ignorant but was still aware of the choice I was making at the time. I was a rebellious youth. But like many other cradle Catholics I read about in these forums. I eventually found myself being unsatisfied with my life, searched for meaning and Truth, and found myself heading back towards the Church.
Is this rejection of God the same sin that Jesus talks about in scripture when he speaks about the unforgivable sin?
CCC 1864 " Whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin".
Do you just have to reject the Holy Spirit just once and then it’s over for you? Or is it a continual rejection, hardness of heart and a refusal to repent? To be honest I think I know the answer. I think I just need constant reassurance from other Catholics.
