I was wondering if anyone had some good books to recommend reading during advent? One of our priests recommended The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis during a homily a few weeks ago. I started reading that. Any other recommendations? Any particular books in the Bible (aside, of course, from Luke)?

I like Frank Sheed’s life of Christ, titled To Know Christ Jesus. You might also try Robert Hugh Benson’s apocalyptic novel, Lord of the World, reputed to be a favorite of Pope Francis. As for books of the Bible, Matthew also has an infancy narrative. You might also consider the Books of the Maccabees (which tell the story of the origins of Hanukkah).
