ah, thank you. The case is familiar, but the name did not ring a bell (I’m terrible with names).

Anyways, would you mind showing me a reference that says she is either jewish or christian?

[Charles] Graner and [Lynndie] England are described as regulars at a Pentecostal tabernacle and we are given a picture of Graner’s half-finished porch in Uniontown with a flag in the window and Scripture on a stone in his front yard quoting the Old Testament prophet Hosea who used his own ill-fated marriage to warn others of the bitter fruits of infidelity: "Reap the fruit of unfailing love…for it is time to seek the Lord until he comes and showers righteousness on you."

So, social norms take precedence over religous expression? Funny, I thought that, in Canada, people had the freedom of speech and freedom of religion. I could be wrong though.
That was my thought on the matter too…

First off, it’s Canada. We should be used to their strange responses to things by now. 😃

Anyway, this is stupid. A man praying, in any language, from any religion, should be treated with respect. I don’t really like any other religion except my own. But that doesn’t mean I’ll treat someone with such disrespect when they are practicing thier beliefs. As long as it isn’t hurting anyone, and praying can’t hurt you, so it should not be disrespected.

I don’t care if the majority of the passengers were nervous about it. A majority is a majority. But wrong is still wrong. The “majority” have been wrong before.

I think this really says something about society. The majority can be obviously wrong, but if it’s a popular opinion, then it’s O.K.

People need to start standing up for what is right. Especially when “right” is the “minority!”

Yeah it was wrong to remove the Jewish man form the plane. I do not know if it was predjudice or not, but I still believ that it was wrong. God speed.

You never heard Jews (Zionists) already have a free license from the Christian West to even go after the whole Lebanon and kill whoever they want and demolish whatever they like with the most advanced bombs provided by the Christian West?

Who is that Christian West dear Muslim? is there a Christian West dear Muslim? name me one country living under Christian-sharia …and what did your Muslim world do? the Sunni even blamed the Shia.
Isn’t shamefull that Crusaders, Missoulini, Hitler, Timothy McVeigh, Ms England were Judeo Christians?

No, you cannot do this. It is not just; it is not ethical; it is not moral. Once you start punishing the many for the sins of the few, where does it stop? We would be suspicious of anyone different than us. In other words, xenophobia.
i know this…but can we blame all people? the threat on the West is still there…recently, the bombs in UK trains…and who knows…they may repeat the 9/11…you hear it in their threats…so again , i say, better be safe than sorry…it is Muslims who started it…let’s say, that people suspected a Muslim or some Muslims on the plane , but under the name of “etiquette”, they did nothing…and these people repeated 9/11…can we say that the “etiquette” avoided us another satanic catastrophe?
the xenophobia is caused by Muslims…for years, the West opened it’s arms wide open to Muslims who flourished over there more than in any “muslim” country. So we cannot blame the West for racisim and xenophobia. It is there for a valid reason.

you failed to quote this before:

“The Christian in me knows it’s wrong, **but the
corrections officer in me can’t help **but love making a grown man piss
himself.”

I guess I have a different opinion here. I think people of all faiths ought to pray silently while in public. I think it’s unnerving and distracting to others, and is not different than if someone broke out in song, while on the plane. You can say the Rosary while whispering and not make a spectacle of yourself around other people.

I’ve flown many times, and generally ettiquette on airplanes is to mind your own business. You often can be on a flight of hours and only say a few words to your next door seatmate. I’ve taken buses and trains and people are more social on them, but on planes often people don’t want to interact too much.
Then there was the Polish Catholic who was investigated by the police and given a criminal record by the legal authorities in Scotland for “a breach of the peace” and “provoking alarm” by silently making the Sign of the Cross during a soccer game:

Let’s face it, the road many want to go down is, “All religion is evil and must be totally privatised if not banned completely.”

“Those who would give up necessary essential liberty to purchase temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety”
-Benjamin Franklin

If the man was being silent, then I think people should be polite and ignore him. Otherwise, it is very bad manners to be noisy on an airplane, unless you are a baby. Yes, I believe we owe some consideration to others. Our Priests are not required to pray their Divine Office while traveling, which is a very sensible and considerate rule. One can pray silently to God without disturbing others.

Jesus told us to pray in private and not make a spectacle of ourselves, remember? Yes, we have freedom of religion, but there is a time and place for everything. I’m not sure the specifics of this case, though, I admit.

yes, they deserve a beautiful death in the name of Allah because some people prefer the “etiquette”.

Sailboat- How can you hold a Jewish man to what Jesus taught?
Just wondering…
Still working on the note in triplicate for your better half…

Good to see INJesus again.

I think that alot of our common sense manners and mores are based on what Jesus taught. It’s good advise. It especially applies to Catholics. In other words, pray your Rosary quietly!

They also ought to ban those phones that make it look like you’re talking to yourself, especially in airports. Those guys with those earpieces in one ear seem like lunatics, who are being controlled by mad scientists who want to take over the world by turning people into cyborgs.

Sailboat- don’t come to Chicago then. It is illegal in Chicago to use your cell while driving w/o a earpiece or some other hands free device!

But, if you do get a ticket I’ll be happy to give you some extra copies of my letter in triplicate that you are always right! Won’t help you much, but I will do it anyway.

Nice to see you guys too!:o Say Damascus, did you have to reregister too? I did. I guess we got deleted.😦 I lost all my posts!:crying:

Yes, it is sad indeed. But, we must go forward Christian soldiers! 🙂
