The feast of the Canadian or North American Martyrs is commemorated in Canada on Sept 26. The universal church feast is in October. Usually there is some significance to these dates. The October date is the death of one of the martyrs but i can’t figure out the significance of Sept. 26. Anyone?

It’s listed on one site as the date in 1634 on which Jean de Brébeuf baptized the mother of an Indian chief. He had recently arrived back in Huronia so it’s possible that they chose that day for this feast in Canada.
