I agree that perhaps the pornographic material and prostitutes may be above and beyond what is called for here. But, there does need to be some attention given to psychiatric and mental patients sexual needs. I worked with developmentally disabled children and adults for three years. Whether we like it or not, at a certain point in puberty, your hormones kick into overdrive. And many of these disabled people had never been taught anything about sexuality. These people do not have the capacity of mind to simply be celibate and thier bodies do require a certain release. If they are not taught an appropriate means to that release, it surfaces in very disturbing ways. I myself was aggressively attacked by a 20-something male who had never been taught any self-control. Thankfully, the attack was stopped before it could get out of control.
My point is that some form of sexual education for this type of people is necessary in order to avoid aggressive behavior and unwanted advances. I’m not exactly sure what that would be and I don’t completely agree with what this particular hospital is doing, but I do think that they have good intentions at heart.
I may not have explained myself as clear as can be above. I’m jsut saying that some form of sexual education for those who will otherwise behave inappropriately is a good idea.
