What are your plans? A big family gathering…or just a quiet weekend.

We will be going to my Aunt’s house on the Monday for a Thanksgiving meal.
We also plan to drive up to Midland - Martyrs Shrine on Saturday.

Also sometime between now and Thanksgiving, we will go apple picking. And hopefully tomorrow, I will put out our fall decorations.

Wow October already!

Well, I’m not in Canada but I’m still excited for the end of November anyway. I think this is the first Thanksgiving I’ve spent with my family in awhile! We just moved back into the vicinity where my parents and some of my siblings live, as well as a few aunts, uncles and several cousins. Before, it was always too short of a week and too crowded of travel to come home for Thanksgiving, though with Christmas there was more flexibility and we would travel every other year or so.

So we are just looking forward to family togetherness, fun and yummy food! 🙂 Plus I love love love seeing my husband enjoy himself and feel happy on a holiday–something he missed out on as a child, where holidays were stressful and not much fun.

My mom will have everyone over and it’ll be great.

Of course, I also love Halloween too and that is coming up for us Americans before Thanksgiving… 😉

Thanks for the reminder. My husband and two older kids are Canadian born. We lived there for nearly 10 years. I will have a nice dinner for them and maybe invite our Irish priest friend over.

We live waaaay south now, in the U.S.; so this time of year we really miss the fall weather happening up there-the worst time of the year for “homesickness” right through until Christmas. (It ends in January when the snow is old, cold news!)

This is a great time of year in Canada. We used to pack the kids into the pick-up truck and go exploring the “bush”. We have wonderful memories of the trips we took to places in Northern Ontario, 🙂 barely on a map. We’d drive for hours with beautiful scenery and friendly small town locals. We’d find some way out of the way place and order “poutine”. Yummy!

Great memories!!!

This time of year brings back great memories of childhood and family gatherings. The house smelling of turkey and fresh baked pies. I am living in the USA now but am delighting in now having two chances at ‘turkey day’ first Canadian and then the American. As I love to bake this is a great time of year!!! did someone mention poutine?!!! YUMMY 👍
