What is the status of canon law in the non-Catholic Eastern Churches (1).
I know they are much less legalistic than the Catholic Churches, especially the Latin one.
It’s my understanding that before the Pio-Benedictine Code of 1917 there was no formal collection of Canon Law in one place. In 1983, John Paul II updated the Code and in the 1990’s he released a Code for the Eastern Catholic Churches.
I know there’s no single authority over all the non-Catholic Eastern Churches so wouldn’t expect a single code. However, have any of the non-Catholic Eastern Churches (1) produced a codified body of canon law or does their canon law exist in a diverse variety of sources?

- I mean the Assyrian Church of the East, the Eastern Orthodox Catholic Churches, and the Oriental Orthodox Churches.
