Why are Canonisation Causes so costly? I know that some expenses are incurred by printing of the holy cards to encourage people’s devotion, the investigation of the person’s life, the investigation into the miracles and paying the staff that has to work on these things.
I also read that they have to pay to rent Saint Peter’s Basilica (though “rent” probably isn’t the right term).
What are the other financial costs of Canonisation Causes? I read that it can run into the millions; what else is there?
