Today Pope Benedict XVI declared Blessed sr…Alphonsa first saint of syro.malabar church in Kerala She was an unknown nun in the Franciscan Clarist convent of Bharnaganam in kerala She had not done any great things.sr…Alphonsa’s life was one ofmisery and suffering She was often afflicted with diseases and was bed ridden for16years of her36 years life she was often ill treated and humiliated She passed away on july28,1946 Her funeral was simple and thinly attended She offered all her suffering to Jesus and prayed for others till the end so many miracles occured through her inercession and her tomb has almost become a shrine God has shown that Great hohour will be bestowed upon the persons who acept suffering and miseries as a gift from god
