Hi, I have a question and don’t know where to go to get it answered. Here it is:

In today’s Liturgy of the Hours, second reading… August 22, Queenship of Mary it’s a homily by Saint Amadeus of Lausanne, bishop. I cannot find where he was canonized. Is he Blessed? Venerated? I found some information that said he died on August 27 and August 24. Also that he was not canonized yet and one site that called him Saint. Can you clarify?

He was one of those individuals that had a popular veneration where he was called “Saint” for centuries but his veneration was not officially confirmed until much later. As Vico noted, he is now officially considered “Blessed”–essentially confirming the permission for the individual to be treated as a saint, usually in a particular locality, but is not a universal prescription to venerate the person as a Saint (which is canonization).

Thank you all for your responses. It cleared it up for me. Thanks. God bless. I always look up the authors of the Morning Readings.
