Hi, I have a question for you guys. I woke up to heavy snow today, and my car was completely buried in the parking lot. I tried half an hour to dig it out, but it wouldn’t budge. As a result, I’m having to miss Mass today, which really really sucks! I might try again this afternoon to try to make it to the evening Mass, but it’s still snowing outside, so the chances aren’t good at all. I might not even be able to make it to work tomorrow. My question is, in such circumstances, what should I do? I mean, I want to fulfill my Sunday obligation, but due to circumstances, I can’t. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

There is nothing you need to do. You’re not required to fulfill your Sunday obligation when circumstances prevent you from getting to church. We get snowstorms in the mountains all the time and our pastor occasionally gives a general dispensation because he’s afraid the elderly will attempt to get the church when they really should stay home.

I was in your position for two weeks in a row. As my priest told me, don’t worry about it. God does not expect us to do the impossible. If it makes you feel better, make a spiritual act of communion, read the readings for this Sunday’s mass, and spend some time reading/praying, etc., to help keep the day holy.

Excellent advise! 👍

Last night at Mass it was PACKED (too bad it wasn’t like this all the time) - I’m glad I went last night. 🙂

Thanks for the advice, all! I feel better.

Yea, I should’ve went yesterday afternoon. I knew it was going to snow, but I didn’t think it was going to be this bad. But boy, was I wrong! Anyway, I guess hindsight is always 20/20. I’ll keep this in mind for next time.

I didn’t make it to Mass today as well, because of the snow.

It isn’t the first time this happens and I know God understands.

At least we don’t have that “snow” problem in southern California. We do have earthquakes, occasional flooding, wildfires, and race riots, but nothing as seriois as ice and snow and freezine winds. brrrrrrrrr…

Sounds like my parish when I went Saturday night. There were people there from the morning services, too. Granted, we only got rain…

This week is the second week in a row that I have had to miss mass, because of weather conditions. Last week it was ice.
This week – snow!
They are even predicting the same kind of sloppy weather again next week in my area!!!:banghead:

This is a real pain.

God Bless
