Hello, I’ve been praying the rosary on and off since I decided to become Catholic 1 and a half years ago. I can’t say it has been the most consistent thing but at first I had a multiple month streak. However, now I’m terrible at it but have now committed to pray it every day except one day a month (only for emergencies). This is my new years resolution and I am confident I can do it with additional prayer for God’s Grace. The problem is, the reason I stopped in the first place is that it feels like I’m just reciting prayers vainly. I can not focus on the mysteries. What should I do? Whenever I try to I just can’t. I don’t have the attention span. I just prayed my rosary but probably 15% of the time I was saying Ave Marias, I had a vague image in my head. I can’t really visualize things while I’m reading either so I guess I’m not really capable. When I meditate my head hurts

You’re not the only one. I find my mind drifting and always try to recenter. Persistence is key here.

This changed the game for me, when I started out I also had vague images. This book has a sentence per bead that you can form into an image and picture it before or during the Hail Mary’s… I’ve passed these out at my parish

Maybe the rosary is not for you.
Try another form of prayer like Lectio Divina or Ignatian contemplation.
Or maybe try the Liturgy of the Hours.
