I have a sibling who has broken the law and it may rise to the level of a felony. Do I have to report it? I don’t want to. He is aware I know and he and his wife have sent me abusive emails and threatened me. I do not take the threats seriously, ut he has control over of monthly inheritance checks. I am 79, disabled and a cancer survivor. The stress is really bad but I can’t seem to act on this.

This is something you should speak about with your pastor and not strangers on the internet.

You should also seek assistance from your county health and human services department regarding the threats and abuse, since you are elderly and disabled and this person has control over money used in your support.

In addition to what @1ke suggested, you might want to consult an attorney too.

If he’s threatening you then you should contact the police for your own safety and well-being.

Keep the emails (get them out of the trash if you put them there) as well as notes about any interaction you have with your brother. At the beginning of the notes, write what you remember from the past interactions.

I appreciate all the comments. They are very helpful. I am reading Abandonment to Devine Providence as well and I highly recommend it for anyone having to make difficult decisions.
